SUMMARY

Professional geologist with broad-based experience in both domestic and international oil and gas exploration. Proven track record of regional and prospect identification, evaluation, and acquisition. Work effectively in inter-disciplinary teams and have led important contract study projects for foreign national oil companies. Major technical strengths include expertise in complex structural settings, geochemical methods, and carbonate stratigraphy. Additional strengths are a high degree of cultural sensitivity and fluency in French.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Shell EP Company, EPW, SURE Unconventional resources, Houston, TX

Staff Geologist 2001-Present

Chief SURE geologist on international evaluations for Oil Shale, Coal, and Heavy Oil Accumulations.  .

·         Chief geologist on the SURE Northeast China oil shale play resulting in the signing of a Joint Venture in September 2005 and commencement of drilling operations in June, 2006.

·         Worked together with Greg Lynch (SCAN) on the Grosmont heavy oil accumulation in Alberta.  Work formed the basis of the current Project North funded since late 2005.

·         Continued Jordan oil shale evaluation expanding the region of exploration opportunity from the Dead Sea uplift to the vast central Jordan platform resulting in a new SURE exploration play funded since 2006.

·         Continued the Australia Queensland oil shale evaluation: Acquired data from QERL allowing SURE to eliminate the traditional ois shale playground as not suitable to ICP and to focus on the large Duaringa basin, project to be funded late 2006 or early 2007.

·         Worked on the joint SURE and SCAN Viking Pilot Project startup giving essential evaluation of the trap parameters and geological model for the reservoir engineering effort.

·         Assisted on the Venezuela Faja Belt discussions with PDVSA and created a geological model for reservoir engineering.

·         Reviewed applicability of coal resources to ICP development and evaluated potential coal ICP regions in China and India.

Shell EP Development Company, Bellaire Technology Center, Houston, TX

Staff Geologist 1999-2001

Research study on the origin and prediction of biogenic-derived gas accumulations in the shallow and deepwater Gulf of Mexico.

Shell EP International Ventures, Inc. (Royal Dutch Shell), Houston, TX

Staff Geologist 1997-1999

Provided geological evaluations in an interdisciplinary environment, working on both long-term maturation projects and short-term opportunity screening teams.

·         Led the geotechnical effort on the Trinidad deepwater bid-round resulting in Shell’s successful acquisition of Block 25a.

·         Substantially lowered the technical risk on the Trinidad Deepwater Bid round project through participation in an industry seabottom coring effort.

·         Identified a major new oil shale deposit in Jordan with recoverable reserve potential greater than 20 billion barrels.

·         Identified and confirmed the presence of previously unmapped oil shale deposits in China Liaoning Province.

Pecten International Company (Shell Oil USA), Houston, TX

Staff Geologist 1989-1996

Conducted exploration activities in the Africa and South America regions including farm-in opportunities, bid-rounds, and study contracts for foreign national oil companies.

·         Improved Pecten抯 understanding of Algeria抯 Sahara basins by leading joint Pecten/Sonatrach studies of districts 6/2 and 8/9. Studies were completed on time and on budget.

·         Conducted simultaneous translation during talks and negotiations with Sonatrach representatives.

·         Developed strategy and policy recommendations dealing with international political risk assessment and mitigation procedures.

·         Led studies and opportunity evaluations in West Africa from the Ivory Coast, Ghana, Equatorial Guinea, to the Congo, Cabinda, and Angola.

·         Recommended the acquisition of La Loeme oilfield as Pecten抯 entrance into the Congo.

·         Facilitated Shell Egypt抯 successful acquisition of Nile offshore Rosetta Block by providing the geological and geochemical analysis in a joint Pecten/Shell Egypt evaluation..

·         Led the evaluation of Ecuador抯 Oriente Basin for the Round 6 Bidding.

·         Coordinated the study agreement with Bolivia抯 YPFB to study the Chaco basin and disturbed belt which provided the basis for subsequent partnering and drilling operations.

Shell Western Exploration and Production Inc.,Houston, TX

Senior Geologist 1981-1989

Supervised exploration projects, prospect generation, seismic and lease acquisition in basins of the Rocky Mountain Region.

·         Acquired a leasehold position on a variety of carbonate prospects in the Paradox basin of southeast Utah.

·         Supervised Shell抯 Columbia River Basin project, integrating all prior Shell drilling and seismic to direct new seismic acquisition and prepare 3 prospects for drilling.

·         Generated leads and prospects in the Utah and Wyoming Overthrust Belts using both geological and geophysical criteria.
